New York– March 31st, 2015 – 9th Wonder, CEO and founder of Jamla Records, has appointed renowned recording and mixing engineer Young Guru as Director of Operations.
Young Guru brings a large skill set to Jamla Records. Having worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rick Ross, Drake, T.I., Kanye West and Eminem, Young Guru has earned his reputation as one of the most renowned recording and mixing engineers in music today. Beyond engineering, Guru is also a DJ and lecturer. He has played arenas around the world and spoken at numerous universities including NYU-Poly, Cornell University, Emory University and the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. He is currently Artist-in-Residence at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
“After being an informal member of the squad for the past few years, I am excited to be an official fixture on the team as Director of Operations,” says Guru. “I am proud of and a fan of Jamla’s work thus far, and look forward to contributing to the label’s future success.”
9th Wonder met Young Guru in 2003 at Baseline Studios in New York City during the recording of Jay-Z’s The Black Album. “From then until now, he and I have shared the same principals on music and on life,” said 9th. “I’ve learned a lot about the game from Gu, and he has always been in my corner about my career, and most importantly, Jamla. His genius in dealing with sound, music technology, music history and the creative process is unmatched.”
Young Guru assumes duties effective immediately.
